Given recent retirement age increases in 🇩🇰 and 🇳🇴, here’s some evidence from neighbour 🇸🇪 about people working later when retirement ages go up (even if they could have retired at 63 with an early retirement pension). Is Sweden showing how work-life can be addressed when retirement ages go up?
The trick may be to set a higher maximum retirement age (69 for 🇸🇪), and then people might feel good if they can retire before then (eg age 67).
Around one-third (31 per cent) of government employees chose to withdraw their occupational pension at age 67 or older in 2024, compared with 15 per cent in 2020.
