A potential major legislative roadblock on implementation of Dutch pension reforms appears to have been removed. Members won’t need to provide individual consents to transfer to the new DC system.
Of course if a Dutch pension fund was to consider transferring to a cross-border fund in next door Belgium (even a plan in surplus), majority member consent is needed. IORP2 brought this requirement in and sadly this has had a major impact on the previous growth and success of pan-EU pensions under IORP2.
So member consent is not needed to move from Dutch DB to DC, but it is to keep identical Dutch benefits but from a different plan in Belgium (even with the same sponsor).
